Blondie walking

Here is Blondie at a sedate walk, which she did not come close to achieving tonight.  Jen shot this last night.

Kim and Gonzo joined Blondie and myself for a little while.  Kim, decked out in ill-considered flip-flops, worked her horse on a longe line.  I don't understand her choice of footwear, but I am an older, and admit that I may be missing some kind of fashion statement that she might have been making.  The thought of getting her toes trampled made me cringe.

Blondie was extremely skittish the entire ride, but at least she kept her mouth shut.  There was no high pitched shrieking back and forth between her and Ruby.  My ears were grateful.

Cantering on the right lead was a challenge, and I was about ready to give up when she finally did it.  But after, she started spooking and ducking out at the back door.  At a walk.  I refused to end the lesson with her behaving that way, and made her keep going around until she finally walked by it, prodded by my inside spur and a firm whip on the shoulder.  Then I decided it was wise to stop pushing my luck and took her back to her stall.

Saber the cat has been very busy.  Yesterday he stood proudly over a mouse carcass, and today I noticed two more rodent corpses in the parking area.  It's good to know that somebody is taking his job seriously!
