10/18/07 Pic of the Day and Lesson 2.3
Blondie, wondering why I keep pestering her when she's trying to eat!
It was a lovely evening for a riding lesson, with temps in the 70s. The class was very small, with only Laurie, Audie, and I in attendance. I got out the trusty western saddle, and headed off to the arena with Blondie while the others finished getting their horses ready.
After trotting around for a very long time, we worked on side passes. Both Blondie and I are rather mystified about this maneuver, and even with M walking next to us and helping me with hand cues, I'm still not sure that we accomplished anything. I was instructed to praise Blondie even if she takes just one step in the correct direction, but I wasn't even sure when she was doing what I was asking her! Argh! I've only practiced side passes a few times, and that was on a horse than knew what he was doing!
Blondie was very well behaved, and she and Ruby refrained from shrieking at each other for the entire lesson! Maybe they had a spat over a tuft of grass earlier in the day.
