The Office of Historic Resources (OHR) oversees the operation and management of city-owned historic properties, museums, and collections to ensure their preservation, promote public awareness, and to provide regional heritage tourism information. OHR further offers a variety of monthly talks, special programs, tours, permanent and temporary exhibitions, and produces the annual Fairfax History Day.

OHR operates three historic sites in or near the Old Town Fairfax Historic District: the Fairfax Museum and Visitor Center, Historic Blenheim and the Civil War Interpretive Center, and Ratcliffe-Allison-Pozer House.
